The Whā Cup
4 clubs, building and growing the game one bogey at a time

Our Story
The Whā Cup is comprised of four social clubs
-
Wairua Golf Club
After many rounds played with individuals from each club, an idea was formed to bring all members together for a kaupapa. The like mindedness of members meant we could create a day with Māori values at the forefront. Manaakitanaga, Whakawhanaungatanga and Pārekareka. After a couple of hui a date was set, a host club was decided and format set, what you see below (video) is just a snippet of the day.
How does it work?
Nama whā features a lot within the Whā Cup. Each club is given a season (4 rounds a year) to host their day, and must decide the date, venue to be played, format and provide a venue for the after function. The Whā Cup has 4 Divisions:
-
Tōtara - +1.0 - 8.0
-
Kauri - 8.1 - 13.0
-
Rimu - 13.1 - 18
-
Kōwhai - 18.1+
